SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST YEAR THE CAR BEGAN HESITATING AND EVENTUALLY WENT ON TO COMPLETELY CUT OFF WHILE MY FAMILY AND I WERE TRAVELING. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I DIDN'T HAVE THAT PARTICULAR PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER YEAR AFTER THE NEW TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIPS WOULD ALWAYS SAY THEY COULD NOT SUPPLICATE MY CONCERN. THE PROBLEM PERSISTING. I'M AFRAID TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE IT STALLS, JERKS OR HESITATES. I WON'T ALLOW MY CHILDREN TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT IS JUST TOO DANGEROUS. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE PAID TAKEN IT FOR DIAGNOSIS THE PAST 6 MONTHS. I'M TAKING IT YET AGAIN TOMORROW. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT THE PATTERN. IT SEEMS TO BE WORSE ONCE PAUSING AFTER A LONG DRIVE > 50 MILES. WHILE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND, I PAUSED AT THE HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE BEYOND 15 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS TIME. I PULLED OVER AND CUT THE CAR OFF. IT DID FINALLY GO BUT THE RMPS STILL IDLED HIGHLY. THERE ARE SOME DAYS THE PROBLEM ISN'T PREVALENT AND THE DRIVE SEEMS SMOOTH. THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO DANGEROUS. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THERE'S NO TRAFFIC BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO TURN OR PULL INTO TRAFFIC.

ON INTERSTATE I 75, CAR SUDDENLY ACTED LIKE NOT GETTING GAS. SLOWED DOWN BUT WAS STILL GOING. I GOT OFF AND WENT TO AN ADJACENT FORD DEALERSHIP. THE PUT A COMPUTER ON IT AND SAID IT WAS A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM. ADVISED TO DRIVE TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP. WHICH I WAS ABLE TO DO. THEY PUT COMPUTER ON IT AND SAID FORD DIAGNOSIS WAS CORRECT BUT ALSO A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. REF 15-084A. THE DEALERSHIP DID MOT MENTION THAT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A COVERED REPAIR. CHARGES WOULD BE 3600. +.

MY TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION WITH MY GRAND CHILDREN IN THE CAR. CONSTRUCTION VEHICLES WERE SPEEDING BY ON EITHER SIDE AND I WAS HELPLESS. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THAT THE WARRANTY WAS UP BY THREE MONTHS EVEN THOUGH MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA HAD ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE SAFETY FACTOR SHOULD SPEAK FOR ITSELF. ON THE WEB THERE ARE HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ESPECIALLY THE 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. I BELIEVE IT'S TIME TO RECALL THIS AUTOMOBILE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 NISSAN SENTRA (66,000 MILES) ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THE RPMS STARTED FLUCTUATING, FOLLOWED BY DIFFICULTY SHIFTING. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A FULL STOP. THE CAR WAS THEN UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. PUTTING IT IN PARK, TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN ALLOWED ME TO ACCELERATE AND DRIVE TO A GAS STATION. I CALLED MY MECHANIC, HE SAID IT COULD BE CONTAMINATED GAS, AND DIRECTED ME TO FIND A NEARBY AUTOZONE, WHERE AN EMPLOYEE SCANNED THE CAR AND AGREED IT WAS CONTAMINATED GAS. I PURCHASED SEAFOAM AND PUT IT IN THE GAS TANK, WITH ASSURANCES THAT THIS WOULD CLEAR UP THE ISSUE BUT THE RIDE MAY BE ?BUMPY?. I DECIDED TO FINISH MY DRIVE TO NEW ORLEANS. UPON ENTERING NEW ORLEANS AND SHIFTING TO STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, IT WAS APPARANT THE ISSUE HAD NOT RESOLVED ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS BARELY ACCELERATING OR SHIFTING. IT FELT VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THROUGH AN UNKNOWN CITY. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, I BROUGHT IT TO AUTOZONE AGAIN, THIS TIME THE SCAN SHOWED ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD A TECHNICIAN REBOOT THE COMPUTER, BUT NOTHING CHANGED. NOT KNOWING THE SEVERITY OF THE ISSUE AND BEING 500+ MILES FROM HOME AND MY MECHANIC, I DECIDED TO RISK THE DRIVE BACK TO NASHVILLE, HAVING HAD EVERYONE AT THE AUTOZONE AND MY MECHANIC TELL ME AT 66K MILES THE TRANSMISSON SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE SERVICES. THE CAR WAS CLEARLY HAVING ISSUES, BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO HIGHWAY SPEED. I MADE IT TO ABOUT 200 MILES OUTSIDE OF NASHVILLE WHEN IT SIMPLY BECAME TOO UNSAFE FOR ME TO CONTINUE ON THE HIGHWAY. I GOT A TOW 200M HOME, DIRECTLY TO MY MECHANIC. HE INSPECTED THE TRANSMISSION THE FOLLOWING DAY AND FOUND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DANGEROUSLY LOW WITH NO SIGN OF LEAKAGE. AFTER CHANGING THE FLUID, HE DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOOK IT INTO CARMAX, WHERE I HAS PURCHASED THE VEHICLE JUST OVER A YEAR PRIOR. THEY CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION.

DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR STALL IN FRONT OF AN 18 WHEELER. IT SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME BUT AS I DROVE LITTLE BIT MORE IT STARTED TO JERK AND I COULD NOT GO OVER 25. I PULLED OVER CUT THE CAR OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND TRIED TO PULL OFF AND IT JERKED SOME MORE BEFORE IT PULLED OFF AND THEN I COULD GO ONLY 25. AT EVERY RED LIGHT I HAD TO CUT THE CAR OFF AND ON JUST TO GET THE CAR OUT THE ROAD. I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE DEALER SHIP TODAY AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE A ARM AND A LEG SAY MY WARRANTY ENDED AT A 100K AND I GOT THE CAR WITH 37K MILES ON IT. I DONT THINK THAT IS RIGHT. THEY TELL ME I HAD A WARRANTY FOR A 100K MILES BUT WHEN IT TIME TO FIX SOMETHING THE WARRANTY IS UP. I SHOULD STILL HAVE 30K LEFT BEFORE MY WARRANTY GOES OUT. BY THE WAY THIS STARTED ON APRIL 23RD 2018 THIS AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER SHIP ON APRIL 25TH.

IT STARTED WITH A WHIRLING WHEN DESCENDING AN INCLINE. SINCE I HAD THE RECALL WORK COMPLETED, I ASSUMED THIS SOUND WAS NORMAL. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN OR BEEN A PASSENGER IN A NISSAN. EXACTLY 1,383 MILES AFTER MY WARRANTY AND 13 MONTHS AND 2 DAYS AFTER THE RECALL WORK THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND CUT OFF AT INTERSECTIONS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN ATLANTA AND ITS FAMOUS SPAGHETTI JUNCTION. THE FIRST TIME I ASSUMED IT WAS A FLUKE. THE 2ND TIME I WANTED TO BLAME IT ON BAD GAS. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE, HOWEVER, THERE WERE NO CODES. A TECHNICIAN DROVE IT AND SAID IT FELT LIKE IT WAS SEARCHING, BUT DID NOT SHUT OFF. HE TOLD ME TO POP IT IN NEUTRAL WHEN APPROACHING A LIGHT OR SLOW DOWN. I DROVE TO AN AAMCO WHERE IT SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF IN THEIR LOT. FIVE HOURS LATER AAMCO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SHUT OFF AND FOUND NO CODES. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT NISSAN DEALER THAN THE ONE THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL WORK. THEY GOT NO CODES, BUT THEY WERE WILLING TO SELL ME A BATTERY, CABLES AND AN IDLE REBOOT FOR $360! THE NISSAN MANAGER PICKED ME UP AS A CURTSEY AND ONCE I TOLD HIM THE PROBLEMS, HE IMMEDIATELY SAID THAT HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS-THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THAT BASICALLY THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 4TH AND COULDN'T SLIP INTO 1ST. I ASKED THAT A TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT HOME IN HOPES OF DUPLICATING. THE NEXT DAY A SERVICE REP REPORTED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SHUDDERING/SHUT-OFF, BUT THAT THEY COULD FEEL IT SEARCHING FOR GEARS. THEY SAID IT WAS POSSIBLY A TORQUE CONVERTER AND THAT A TOTAL REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION AT $4,000 WAS REQUIRED. AAMCO IS WILLING TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AS LONG AS I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I MAY NEED A TOTAL REBUILD AS THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN IT JUST BE A TORQUE CONVERTER. AS I OWE MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH, I HAVE ZERO OPTIONS BUT TO PAY FOR A COSTLY REBUILD.

MY CAR HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHERE IT JUDDERS, SHAKES, VIBRATES, AND AT TIMES CUTS OFF. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MULTIPLE VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGNS. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO HONOR THE FREE SERVICE CAMPAIGNS AND JUST WANTS ME TO PAY $4000 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS NEW OF A CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUES. CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE RESULTING IN SLOW ACCERATION WITH MAX SPEED RANGING 0-25 MPH. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN VEHICLES, AND WAS COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO TROUBLESHOOT TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED INSPECTION ON OTHER COMPONENTS OF VEHICLE, MADE UNCONFIRMED ACCUSATIONS BASED ON BRAKE WEAR, AND AGE/SEX OF DRIVER. THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AT NISSAN (MANDY) INITIALLY INDICATED EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD, AND THAT SHE ONLY NEEDED THE CVT TEST RESULTS FROM NISSAN TO CONFIRM THAT THE ISSUES FOR MY CVT TRANSMISSION WERE IN ALIGNMENT WITH CVT REPAIR THAT THEY PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH. WHEN COGGIN NISSAN SHARED THE RESULTS WITH MANDY, SHE DECLINED COVERAGE. BEFOREHAND, WHEN I SPOKE TO RAYMOND (SERVICE ADVISOR), I ASKED IS THERE ANYTHING ABOUT THE TEST RESULTS DIFFERED FROM TEST RESULTS OF CVT TRANSMISSIONS COVERED BY NISSAN, AND HIS REPLY WAS ?NO?, WHEN I EXPLAINED THIS TO MANDY, AND REQUESTED TO VIEW THE DOCUMENTATION THAT COGGIN NISSAN SHARED WITH HER, SHE DECLINED STATING INFORMATION WAS ONLY TO BE VIEWED BY INTERNALLY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.

CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHEN GETTING ON RAMPS ONTO THE HIGHWAY, AND NORMAL ACCELERATION, MY VEHICLE IS NOT ACCELERATING. IT IS DELAYED IN ACCELERATION FROM STOPS OR WHEN NEEDING TO PICK UP SPEED SUCH AS ON A RAMP OR WHEN PASSING. IT IS NOT DRIVING HOW IT SHOULD UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY. FOUR TIMES NOW THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF POWER WHEN IN DRIVE. IN ALL FOUR INSTANCES THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE STOPPED, PUT IN PARK AND THEN WAS ABLE TO PROCEED. ALL FOUR INSTANCES OCCURRED AS THE VEHICLE WAS PULL AWAY FROM A STOP. IN ONE INSTANCE AN ACCIDENT WAS ONLY AVOIDED DUE TO THE DRIVERS IN CROSS TRAFFIC PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION. THE LAST INCIDENT OF ON 3/29/18. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN AT THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE DEALER SERVICE AREA IS SAYING THEY CAN NOT EVEN FIND A TSB ON THE ISSUE.

ON 3/31/2018 I HAD TO BE ESCORTED OFF THE HWY BY CHP BECAUSE I COULDN'T KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IS HAS HAPPEN. IT OCCURS JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY. I HAVE CHECKED ALL MY FLUIDS THERE ARE NO LIGHTS ON MY DASH.

THEY DETERMINED THAT AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 25 MINUTES THAT DAY AND 25 MINUTES THE NEXT THAT THE CVT REPROGRAMMING COULD HAVE BEEN THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT TO RETURN IT TO THE DEALER IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. 3 DAYS LATER MY CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND STALLING VERY ROUGHLY WHILE IN MOTION AND AGAIN CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE IN DRIVE. THIS TIME MY YOUNG SON WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME, AND HIM AND I COULD HAVE BOTH BEEN HARMED OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND HARMED SOMEONE ELSE. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME EITHER WITH SUCH A SHORT MONTH AND MILEAGE AS WELL. I TOLD HIM THAT IT HAPPENS WET OR DRY AND HE AGAIN DISMISSED IT AS "NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT." WELL IT IS NOT 'NOTHING.' THE SHUTTER/RATTLE OCCURS WHEN I SLOWDOWN INTO A TURN, THEN ACCELERATE. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH, WHEN CAR SUDDENLY REDUCED TO 50 MHP IN JACKSON MS, ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND BY 18 WHEELER. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MERIDIAN MS AND THEY STATED THE CAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND DAMAGE ARE DUE TO BOILING COOLANT. THE BOILING COOLANT IS CAUSED BY THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT CAN NOT COOL THE COOLANT LIQUID FAST ENOUGH. THIS ONLY HAPPENS IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY FOR A VERY LONG HOURS. DEALER SUGGESTED REPLACING THE CVT TRANSMISSION ($4000), NISSAN ADVICES TO ADD A SECOND EXTERNAL CVT OIL COOLER KIT ($900) TO PREVENT COOLANT LIQUID FROM BOILING AND TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY, THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS ISSUE. IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AND IT'S NISSAN'S DESIGN FLAW. WARRANTY COMPANIES KNOW ABOUT IT AND THEY WILL NOT COVER FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE DESPITE OF THEIR CONTRACT SAYS TRANSMISSION IS COVERED. NISSAN OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIRS. THE SENTRA REQUIRED TOWING 60 MILES BACK TO OUR LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AT OUR, THE OWNERS, EXPENSE. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED, NOTING THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON WITH THE SENTRA. OUR 2013 SENTRA HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (CVT) AND LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MILES AN HOUR THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE AND CALL FOR AAA. THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN 3 TIMES PRIOR AND THEY CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR A CVT. ONCE THE CAR REACHED OVER 60K AND WAS OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE THEY LET ME KNOW IT WOULD BE $4,300 TO FIX. I OPENED A CASE AND NISSAN STATES BECAUSE THE CAR WAS DIAGNOSED POST WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. I HAVE COME CLOSE TWICE TO AN AUTO COLLISION AS I AM SHIFTING LANES MY CAR COMPLETELY LOSES POWER AND DROPS SPEED WITHOUT MY CONTROL WITH HE RPM DROPPING DRASTICALLY BUT REGAINING WITHIN SECONDS. THE CAR JERKS AND SHUDDERS. I HAVE HAD ANOTHER FAMILY TEST AS WELL AND HAS SAID THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND SOMETHING IS WRONG. I RESEARCHED AND SEE A MULTITUDE OF COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE TO THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MODEL. I AM TAKING TO THE DEALER TO HAVE DIAGNOSTIC COMPLETE AND HAVE EXPLAINED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS FINE PRIOR TO THE SOFTWARE ADJUSTMENT WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE ISSUES AND POSSIBLY I WILL GET STUCK WITH PAYING WHATEVER REPAIRS. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER HAVING TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A TRANSMISSION DEFECT THAT THOUSANDS OF NISSAN OWNERS ARE HAVING THE ISSUES AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE INVESTIGATION TO BE DONE ON THIS AND IN THE EVENT THAT WHILE I AM DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND THIS OCCURS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT I WILL HOLD THE MANUFACTURER AT FAULT FOR ALLOWING THIS VEHICLE TO GO UN-REPAIRED FOR A FAULTY TRANSMISSION THAT THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT AS BEING A "LEMON OF A CAR" AND "UNSAFE." THE DATE THIS ISSUE LAST OCCURRED WITH ME DRIVING MY VEHICLE WAS AROUND 8:30A.M. ON JANUARY 5, 2018.
